Kid's Nutrition: A Good Way to a Child's Better, Healthier Future

from: Maxx Family Life

It is always amusing and appealing to see kids who are healthy and active. Some parents are even envious of them because some have kids who are ill and have poor health. Honestly, parents are partly to blame if their kids are unwell because they do not exert much effort to be wary and careful in giving them nutritious foods.

Good nutrition is a necessity for any kid. Eating nourishing foods and learning how to have a good meal are significant for children because of the rapid growth and developmental changes they experience. During meal time, children have the chance to learn and develop their motor and social skills such as table manners and hand washing. These are important in promoting nutrition to children.

Parents should provide a nutritious food that is suitable to their children's age. Parents also have to be aware that not all foods are edible nor healthy for children. They should have a meal plan or a menu which can serve as their reference.

Below is an example of a meal plan that is divided into two children categories:

* Toddlers and Preschoolers

Feed your children every 8 hours with 1 meal and 2 snacks or 2 meals and a snack. Serve your child with foods that are soft and easy to chew. Never feed your children with foods that contain high sugar like raisins. Sweet foods are not recommended for toddlers because they can cause tooth decay.

Give them a beverage that contains 100% juice in order for them to acquire the best nutrition they need.

* All Children

Ensure that your kids have washed their hands before eating. Feed them family style foods. Eat with your children and encourage them to use proper table manners.

Serve their plates with small portions of foods. However, it is important to offer additional servings whenever they desire. Keep this in mind- never serve your child foods which you think they cannot consume.

Another issue about kid's nutrition is the foods children brought from home. When parents enroll their children in a preschool or primary school, parents never miss to prepare foods for them. Some parents know what nutritious foods to give their children, while others do not.

Parents should make a safe list of nutritious foods for them to be assured that their kids are eating well. However, to completely guarantee their kid's nutrition they should be sure that:

* The food their children brought from home should have a label. * It should be placed at a proper temperature. * Your children should not ask food from their classmates. * Your children should not feed or swap their food with others. * It should meet the nutritional requirements of once child. If you are not sure about what to give your children, ask a health care expert for nutritional information and meal advice.

Sometimes, parents cannot really force their children to eat what they do not want. If this happens, do not force them. Do not let them think that eating food is a form of a reward or a punishment. Instead, talk to them. Let your children know the value of nutrition to their health. In this way, they will understand and follow you.

Kid's nutrition is really important to every child. Without it, expect that your child will be dull, inactive and ill for the rest of his or her life.
