Every parent watches
their children grow right before their eyes and it seems as if it was only
yesterday they were a baby learning to crawl, and then walk, and then feed
themselves, and now ... well, now they're in school, involved in
activities, making friends and learning to be more and more
independent.
Parenting strategies have to constantly change to meet the needs of
an ever-changing society in which our children are being raised. As
children develop, grow, learn, and mature, so does a parents
role.
As a child growns, parents
quickly discover that each one of them has their own unique personality
and temperament. You've probably unconsciously redeveloped your
parenting skills to suit the individual needs of each
child.
The most important tools a
parent has in order to successfully adjust their parenting skills are
their eyes and ears. Parents have to see what's going on with their
child and to hear what they're telling them. Encourage your child to be
their own individual while still being available to them at whatever level
they need you to be. |
