The Life of a Teddy Bear
from: Maxx Family LifeTeddy bears have been around for over 100 years and during that time this wonderful child's friend has has had a number of books written about them. These include the adventures of Winnie the Pooh, a series of books by A.A. Milne, about the escapades of a teddy bear. Pooh, along with his friends Christopher Robin, Rabbit, Eeyore, Kanga, Tigger, Owl, Piglet, and Roo, have many wonderful adventures in the hundred acre wood.
Paddington Bear's creator is Michael Bond, who's written a number of books about a teddy bear who comes from Peru, but now lives with the Brown family at 32 Windsor Gardens. Paddington is a teddy bear who has both paws planted firmly on the ground. He has strong conviction about right and wrong, and despises bureaucratic red tape, if fact, Paddington doesn't look kindly on all the sillier rules of humans.
The Care Bears are teddy bears who've had several books written about them as well. The books provide a message and lesson that teaches about better ways to live our lives. Each Care Bear has a personal design on their tummies plus a personal motto to which they dedicate their lives.
Rupert, is a mischievous teddy bear who got started as a comic strip in a London newspaper (where he still appears). He's had books published each year, called Annuals, from all the comic strips that have appeared during the year, an event that's been ongoing for 50 plus years.
Winnie the Pooh and The Care Bears have also had poetry written about them.
In addition to books, these teddy bears have their own animated television series. You should check listings for PBS, BBC, The Disney Channel and other station where cartoons are part of the programming. Of course, don't forget to look for Yogi and Boo-Boo bear on Boomerang. Baloo, from The Jungle Book, has his own cartoon called Tailspins.
There are also a few less famous teddy bears living in houses (like Paddington Bear), Museums, stores, online web sites, and factories eager to be adopted by someone. Many talented teddy bear artists and manufacturers have brought some pretty amazing bears to life as well.
