How Zelnorm Relieves Irritable Bowel Syndrome
from: Maxx Family LifeZelnorm is the only prescription drug approved by the FDA for the treatment of women suffering from Irritable Bowel Syndrome with constipation. Zelnorm relieves IBS with constipation by speeding up the stooling process which means it should not to be used by anyone suffering with IBS with diarrhea.
How does Zelnorm speed up the digestive process?
There is a specific chemical naturally produced by the body called Serotonin, which helps regulate the digestive process. A common cause of Irritable Bowel Syndrome with constipation is a slow digestive tract that may be due to a low level of Serotonin in the body. Zelnorm relieves Irritable Bowel Syndrome with constipation by simulating Serotonin and helping to coordinate the various muscles in your digestive tract to speed up the digestive process.
This method is different that what common laxatives and fiber supplements do to relieve IBS with constipation. Fiber supplements and laxatives often work by increasing the water content of your stool which makes it softer and easier to evacuate. Zelnorm relieves Irritable Bowel Syndrome with constipation not by manipulating the stool, but by manipulating the movement of the digestive tract itself.
Regardless, there are some warnings regarding taking Zelnorm for IBS with constipation.
First, Zelnorm can't be used by men with Irritable Bowel Syndrome. It only works for men suffering from chronic constipation which means only women suffering from IBS with constipation can take this drug.
Note also that It shouldn't be taken by someone who has Irritable Bowel Syndrome with diarrhea because this drug will only make the diarrhea worse and actually prove to be very dangerous. If a person suffering from IBS with diarrhea takes the drug zelnorm, it will make the diarrhea worse, which may cause severe dehydration, low blood pressure or even death.
It should never be taken by children.
There are, of course, safer alternatives than taking Zelnorm, one of which is to use soluble fiber supplements that can be used by people those who suffer from IBS with constipation or diarrhea. Another alternative for IBS with constipation is herbal medicines such as fennel and peppermint. Fennel helps stabilize the digestive process by regulating the contractions of the small intestine and also helps relax the gut. Fennel is often taken in teas.
Peppermint capsules are also common substitutes for Zelnorm, which have been shown to relieve the symptoms of IBS even in children. Like soluble fiber, this treatment also works to relieve both constipation and diarrhea. Some people may question the fact that any type of fat or oil is known to trigger symptoms of IBS, however, peppermint oil capsules are specially coated so they pass through the stomach and only release the oil in the small intestine where the oil does its work.
Anyone wanting to try using the drug Zelnorm for Irritable Bowel Syndrome symptoms will likely find it effective, but you should definitely be careful.
