How to Avoid Bronchitis

Avoiding bronchitis means avoiding its symptom. A pregnant woman can't risk getting cough or cold that could develop into bronchitis if the condition isn't treated immediately. Therefore, some preventative measures are in order:

1. Wash your hands as often as possible. When you're outside your home or office where a washroom isn't available, use a hand sanitizer or alcohol.

2. Keep everything within your environment clean, especially those you often touch or encounter. Use any germ-killing disinfectant for this purpose.

3. Keep your distance from anyone who has a cough or cold. A pregnant woman is an an especially high risk to develop this illness if they frequently have to interact with people who have a cough or cold.

4. If you should start to develop a cough or cold, use a clean tissue when you blow and then immediately dispose of the tissue.

Effects of Bronchitis to a Pregnant Woman

There are several symptoms of bronchitis that could create anxiety for a pregnant women in many different ways:

* Coughing is a symptom of bronchitis which isn;t fatal to your unborn child, but could cause many annoying and uncomfortable moments.

* Having a fever is also a symptom of bronchitis. Try to determine your body temperature because medical studies have shows that pregnant women with a temperature higher than 38.9 degrees C can give birth to a child with abnormalities.

* Colds and pain in the throat and chest are major annoyances to a pregnant woman, so have them treated quickly so they won't cause harm to you or the baby.

If You Should Get Symptoms of Bronchitis

If you start noticing you have the symptoms of bronchitis, immediate precautions should be taken.

1. Drink a lot of non-caffeinated liquids, which helps ease your secretion. Recommended liquids for pregnant women are water, fruit juices from fresh fruits and soup.

2. Setting up a humidifier will likely have benefits, especially for anyone suffering from a cold. Use saline drops to relieve your stuffy nose.

3. A warm shower everyday is helpful as well, since taking a warm shower helps to clear out mucus as well as nose stuffiness.

4. When symptoms of bronchitis appear to be present, get plenty of of rest and make an appoinment to visit your OB-GYNE.

Sometimes taking medications when pregnant can't be avoided. These medications attempt to relieve the discomfort and pain brought on by the symptoms of bronchitis.
