The Benefits Of Homeschooling

from: Maxx Family Life

Why should you have your kids learn at home rather than sending them to a public school? Well, one of the first benefits will be a elimination of the routine of waking them up at 7 a.m.every morning and bundling them off to school with a dozen set of instructions, and waiting anxiously until they return. With homeschooling, you have more control over what will influence and affect your child and thus growth and development is no longer in the realm of the unknown. As parents, you alone decides what your child needs to do or learn and can tailor the curriculum to suit the interests of your children.

Another major benefit to home schooling is that individual attention can be given to each child. For instance, if Emma requires time to learn Math, she can reduce the time spent on her English lessons since there's no fixed hours for learning per subject. Therefore a child has the advantage of being able spending more hours working on a subject they're having difficulties with without any additional pressure. This is something that just doesn't happen in the public school system. How much time is needed to learn each subject depends entirely on the abilities and interests of the child.

Once you're into a home schooling routine, schooling of your children becomes an extended family activity. As parents, you'll be involved in every step of the learning procedure including field trips and experiments that can become family activities. This is another great benefit since children will receive more quality time with parents. Everyone in the family can shares games, chores and projects, brining the family closer together. Child are also free of negative peer pressure, while learning how to make their own decisions.

There is limited competition when it comes to homeschooling, which may or may not be a benefit, depending on each individual child. Since a child doesn't have to prove their abilities compared to other children, confidence tends to remain stronger. Parents should have a better understanding of their child than a school teacher who must deal with so many students and thus they can plan the learning program that will be of the most interest to their child. You can also possible to mingle difficult tasks with fun activities, so that a difficult hour learning Algebra can be followed by a trip to the museum. In this way, learning becomes a fun activity. Since parents can tailor the curriculum to suit the specific learning requirements of each child, there's less chance a child will become discouraged. Every child has their own personal style. Some learn best by reading, while others need to write, and others need to see objects in action.

With homeschooling, parents are able to better control the moral and religious learning of a child by incorporating their beliefs and ideologies into the child's curriculum. This means less confustion in the child's mind because there's no variation between what's being taught and what they see being practiced within the family.

Finally, it's a fact that many parents are getting very disillusioned with the public school system. Some feel their children are pushed too hard and some feel their children aren't pushed hard enough. There's also the ongoing concerns regarding discipline and ethics that makes the school system less welcome. Many parents repudiate the educational philosophy of grouping children together solely based of their age. Many parents have unhappy memories of their own public school experience, which is a motivating factor in deciding to go with homeschooling when it comes to their own children.

Homeschooling is certainly one of the best ways to teach a child if parents have the time, ability and interest to follow through with his education. Let's face it, nobody will ever understand or appreciate your child more than a parent.
