Dressing Your Newborn

from: Maxx Family Life

Having a newborn baby means you're probably bombarded with cute outfits to put on your baby that you've never seen before. If you're lucky, you've received many different items of clothing during your pregnancy or during the time when you were awaiting the birth of your newborn.

Regardless of how many items of clothing you have and how many you think you're going to need, you'll always need more. As a new parent, you'll be astonished and perhaps overwhelmed by the huge amount of clothing you need for your newborn. Thus, there's lots to keep in mind while you're dressing your newborn, and organizing his/her closets and drawers.

First, remember that clothing for your newborn should always fit properly, and be age appropriate. It's most important the clothing corresponds to the size of your newborn, and not to their exact age. You might have to try some different sizes before you find the one that fits your baby best. However, remember that they grow quickly, so don't be surprised if they can only fit into an outfit a couple of times.

When dressing your new born, they do like to feel like they're securely wrapped. This means he/she should be wearing clothing that fit well. At the same time, you don't want him/her to be restricted by the clothing, so be sure the clothes are in no way too tight for your baby. Baby clothes should fit just perfectly, not too tight, and not too loose.

Also, it's important to remember that your baby is going to get dirty! They'll spit up often, so it's always a good idea to have a bib on hand.

Never spend a fortune on baby clothes, because they'll quickly outgrow them, and it's easy for expensive clothing to be ruined by baby spitting up. The same applies to your own clothing when you're dealing with your newborn! Don't wear clothing that could be ruined by messes that simply are the messes that come with a baby.

Finally, this is one of the most stressful times, but also one of the best times of your life, so you should avoid added stresses. Keep it simple, and keep it secure and safe for the baby.
